A-Level Results Day...

Today is so often a day of nervous anticipation, perhaps elation or perhaps disappointment, and likely some frantic future planning. On this day, and to all those of you who are receiving your A-level results today, know that we are thinking of you!

Perhaps today you would also allow me to introduce you to Mollie, and the story of her results day last year, it's well worth a read...

Mollie's Story...

This time last year I was sitting in a dusty field half way across the world in Uganda crying for hours because I didn't get the grades I needed to get into my first choice or insurance universities. Ugandan children came up to me asking why I was crying and tried to cheer me up; children who have hardly anything, and I was crying because of "not good enough" A-Level results. I thought my life was over. I didn't know what God was doing with my life shutting the door to university. But as soon as God shut that door, he began to open another in the weeks following.

Through clearing God opened a door to study at Portsmouth University. (I had never heard of Portsmouth before let alone knew where it was) but with a quick phone interview when I returned from Uganda, with which I was asked one question after the lady chatted for most of the time about her trip to Belfast once after finding out where I was from, she immediately offered me a place. I found a house that same day with Christian housemates and booked a one way boat journey. 2 weeks later I was driving to start the next chapter of my life. Although it wasn't my plan to go to Portsmouth, it was definitely God's plan. I have made so many lifelong friends and have had so many opportunities I maybe wouldn't have had if I had been anywhere else! Looking back, it's obvious how God was preparing the way for me to go to Portsmouth and results day was one of those preparations.

For those getting results today, it is not the end of the world if you didn't get what you needed for your first or second choice universities. God has a greater plan for you and you just need to wait and see what door he's opening instead. This time next year you'll look back and laugh (like I am this year) at why you cried so much, why you got upset and worried and thought everything you are thinking right now, because you will realise that God has you exactly where he wants you to be!

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a hope and a future." - Jeremiah 29:11
