Whilst none of us can manage to be involved in every part of church life, its still nice to know whats is going on. We hope that this area of the site will help to keep us all up to speed so that we can pray effectively for the ministries and be encouraged by the testimony of others.

North End Playscheme
Since 1994 Revelation Portsmouth Playschemes (now North End Playscheme) have been running a Playscheme for a week in the summer holidays for 5-11 year olds and a Parent and Toddler group for under 5’s. This is located in North End and over the years has built up an impressive reputation with the local community and local authorities.
 
The Playscheme has been run mainly by Christians a number of whom are now part of the King's family, but is not seen as an opportunity to preach to the children; rather we choose to show the love of God through serving the local community, providing children with a safe, fun-filled environment and the way we work together as a team. We also have community volunteers who get to meet Christians and sometimes even come to the prayer meeting!
 
The Playscheme can only happen if there are people who are willing to volunteer to help run it. This is where you might be able to help. We need volunteers in the following areas:
 
Children’s Tent – being part of a team looking after 120 5-11 year olds
Parent & Toddler – helping with the toddlers, chatting to parents, making cups of tea!
Set-up/Pack down – on the Sunday we need to erect 3 marquees on Mayfield School field, and set out all the equipment for the week, Friday afternoon we need to take the marquees back down and pack everything away
Site - helping to keep the site running: generators, port-a-loos, water, etc
Security – we need to provide round the clock security on site, so need people to spend an evening there and some gentlemen to sleep in the marquees overnight
Catering – assisting with lunch for the 40+ volunteers (can be baking cakes/heating food)
Prayer – we need God’s help in all of this, and meet each morning to pray as well as on the Sunday preceeding the week. Any prayer cover before and during would be fantastic
 
It is not essential that volunteers offer to be there all week (although that is welcomed if possible), just a morning, or baking a cake would be appreciated.
 
The dates for this year’s Playscheme are:
Sunday 9th August – set-up and prayer
Monday 10th – Friday 14th August – Playscheme and Parent & Toddler (8am-4pm)
Friday 15th August – pack down (from 4pm)
