A great time in the Peak District
Lunch with a viewOver the May Bank Holiday weekend, a group of 18 walkers made their way up to the Peak District for a long weekend of walks, food and fun.

The Saturday walk was a 10 mile walk starting and finishing at Dove Dale, taking in the picturesque village of Ilam before heading up across fields and hills and stopping for lunch with views across the valley. Not even the short hailstorm could dampen spirits as we descended to a old country pub with a welcoming log fire to warm us up. The return of the walk followed the bottom of a long valley section of Dove Dale including the famous stepping stones across the river.

Group on a bridge in Dove DaleThe Sunday walk was a slightly shorter 8 mile walk, albeit slightly more hilly, but the walkers took on the challenge well and soon reached the mouth of Thor's Cave to explore inside and take stop for lunch, with views stretching for miles around.

Back at the base, not completely shattered by the walks, the group relaxed and were soon playing table-tennis and sardines (yes adults) as well as chilling out with hot chocolate and marshmallows before bed.

This was the third Walking Weekend and brings together people from all parts of King's as well as those members who have moved away, and provides a great way to connect with new people, and get to know better people you thought you already knew.

Crossing the stepping stones at Dove DaleComments from the weekend include:

"A much needed break and time with other christians. A great opportunity to catch up with much loved friends and meet new ones and spending time in our beautiful countryside."

"Met a nice bunch of people and felt more connected to the Church."

"I was refreshed and shattered at the same time. I love the physical adrenaline from the walks and the spiritual refreshment of having a laugh with fellow Christians and being in the countryside."

"It was great and I def want to come next year and the next and the next and the next..."

"Met a new group of lovely people, saw a new bit of England and had fun"
